Story
Hi there,
We (Joanne, Cenza, Tina, Elisa and Marly) will be participating in Stadium Stomp 2017 this winter and will be climbing thousands of stairs within the MCG for our chosen charity.
Our chosen charity is Amaze, they're a foundation for Autism. Awareness for Autism is extremely important to us.
"When my son was diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum we (my husband and I) were feeling millions of different emotions and didn't know where to start reading up on autism. We were given the Amaze website and it helped us get started with understanding our sons diagnosis, different therapies available, they assisted us with our early intervention funding. I was able to refer family members to the site when they had questions, it has a wealth of information without feeling overwhelmed by it all. As a mother of a child with Autism I just want to raise awareness of ASD in the community. I've had many people say to me when I've mentioned my sons diagnosis ''wow he doesn't look autistic!'. My question is What does a person with Autism supposed to look like??
My favorite saying is 'when youve met 1 person with autism, you've met 1 person with autism.' " Joanne Basile

Amaze
Amaze aims to create an inclusive society that offers every autistic person the opportunity to meaningfully participate and contribute. We do this by raising awareness and influencing positive change among educators, the government and the wider community. Formed in 1967 by a group of parents struggling to find resources to support their child; Amaze has grown to become the Peak body for autism in Victoria annually providing emotional support, credible information and practical tools to over 13,000 families and individuals on their autism journey from pre-diagnosis and beyond.
